Stories that could not be more classic
With TikTok Stories, the company wants to ” explore new ways to allow its community to bring their creative ideas to life .” Like on Instagram or Snapchat, this format can be found in a new sliding sidebar. For 24 hours, you can view Stories (videos) posted by the accounts you follow on TikTok.
To create your first Story, all you have to do is press the button representing a camera in the new navigation bar on the left of the screen. You can then use the usual tools, to add text or stickers, insert sounds and even apply effects to its content. Like other platforms, it is possible to save everything in the gallery of your smartphone.
As elsewhere, the creator of the Story will be able to consult the list of people who have consulted his publications and subscribe to them with a dedicated button.
Comments will be public
This functionality will complement the other content creation options already present on the platform and will not replace them. Very similar to the other Stories systems, the only difference will be in the reaction system.
Indeed, the comments will be completely public, unlike Snapchat or Instagram which prefer to send them as a private message. Concretely, your mutual friends will be able to see your comments and react to them.
Tiktok specifies that the feature is in the testing phase with some creators without however specifying which ones. Coincidence or not, this announcement comes as Twitter has just ditched Fleets, its Stories system, because it wasn’t used enough.
