Method 1: Making changes in upload folder

We need to make sure that our WordPress directories are readable and having correct permissions. Issue happens when wordpress cannot locate the exact location of uploads folder.

  1. Go to Cpanel > filemanager > Public_html folder ( or your website folder )
  2. Open the file wp-config.php and add the following lines
define('UPLOADS', 'wp-content/uploads');

Before this line

require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');
  • save wp-config and after that you can upload data.

Method 2: Changing folder permissions

If method 1 fails you can try to change permissions of folders. With ftp client it will be much faster.

Try to go to wp-content folder and make sure folder permissions are set to “755”, if they are not then you can change it. This will make directories writable.
